History is full of projects to organize severe violence in societies.I leave Kings and Governments out of this; they always have economic interests and unfortunately the authority of legitimate government. I shall concentrate on the usurpers. The examples that come to mind are: the pristine Communist movement of Russia in 1917, Hitler's Nazis, Castro's conquest of Cuba, the LTTE in Sri Lanka the Naxal movement of Central India, and of course, the Islamic terrorists.
The common organization is divided thus:
1.The Oracle.Either an individual or a small group. They are the ones organizing violence to serve their doctrinaire beliefs. Their views are considered by their adherents to be at par with received wisdom from the Almighty. Any expression of dissent is punishable by death.
2.The zombies.A small, dedicated and completely brain-washed group of fanatical believers willing and able to carry out acts of extreme violence and risk death in the process.If their initial devotion to the Oracle is ever tinged with doubt they in turn risk punishment by death.
3.The beaters.They beat the drum.This is the largest, the most vocal and the most partisan of supporters; they seem to have lost all sense of that moderation that constitutes a modern society.The violence they do is verbal.Today they are the warriors on Social Media.They practice the dictum "Truth lies in publicity,not in reality."
Argumnent and counter-argument which, we have seen, is the foundation of Hindu Dharma is expressly forbidden in these organizations.It is the experience of the modern world that most of the beaters come from the urban or semi-urban areas.
